a gathering of two people who didn't meet

Endlessly the open cheer cries
And goes down over unseen skies
Keep on watching pages turned
And plotless tales of lessons learned

The fog that surrounds us all
Every door in every hall
Is closed and will never be
What you want and what you see

A clock chimes above high
Somewhere in the cloudy sky
But you're staring into space
That deadlocked look on your face

Time speeds up as I slow down
Somewhere in this lonely town
We all sit back and take our time
And when it's too late we change our minds

A pattern that never ends
See the signal that it sends
Far away and hard to understand
But it's all part of the plan

Just a photo on the wall
Or a painting in a hall
The faces look familiar yet
It's just two people who never met
